McLean Youth Soccer is offering an extensive program of summer camps at Lewinsville Park over 8 weeks in 2008. This is the 7th year of summer camps sponsored by the club.

Premier Soccer Academy (PSA) strives to make soccer a pleasant, safe and rewarding experience for soccer players on and off the field. PSA summer program will provide the best learning environment, social, and competitive training opportunity for players at every level because it is conducted by what is widely recognized as the finest professional coaching staff in Northern Virginia
 

First Touch (Ages 5-6) $100

A fun introduction to the game of soccer.

Mornings 9:00-10:30AM

  • Provides fun, fast-paced, soccer-related games and activities
  • Develops motor skills, cognitive abilities and peer relationships
  • Builds basic soccer skills
  • Develops a love for the game

Pass & Move (Ages 7-8) $160

Is your child ready to be further challenged?

Half Day 9:00-12:00 PM

  • Focuses on developing the foundation skills of soccer
  • Teaches foundational skills: dribbling, ball control, turning, shooting and passing
  • Varies each day's activities to include many fun and challenging games
  • Develops coordination, physical skills and social interaction

Junior Player Development (U9-U11) $240/$160 (Half Day)

  • Develops technical skills and tactical knowledge of the game
  • Builds advanced foot and upper body skills
  • Emphasizes the creativity to beat an opponent,
  • Teaches advanced shooting, shielding and receiving techniques
  • Introduces principles of team play

Advanced Player Development (U12-U19) $240/$160 (Half Day)

The coaching staff for this program is our successful and experienced McLean Premier Soccer age-group directors and coaching staff, under the guidance of Clyde Watson, the MYS Technical Director.

Goalkeeper Academy (U9-U16) $280/$200 (Half Day)

Goalkeepers have the option of focusing on goalkeeping skills in the half-day session or joining the Junior Player Development or Advanced Player Development program in the afternoon to work on a combination of field and goalkeeper skills by attending the full-day session.

Technical topics covered:

  • Low/medium/high diving
  • Deflecting and boxing
  • Fast footwork
  • Ball handling
  • Breakaways

Tactical topics covered:

  • Angle play/shot stopping
  • Breakaways
  • Extending the range/reading the game
  • Penalty kicks
  • Crosses
  • Double goal theory
