Over the next few years McLean Youth Soccer (MYS) is embarking on a Field Development Initiative that will convert a number of our fields from grass to synthetic turf. The goal of this effort is to insure that every MYS player has the opportunity to learn and play the game on a quality surface.
In order to achieve this goal, the membership rates will increase beginning in Fall 2008. The fee increase is critical to the club's efforts to improve the quality of our fields, while also continuing to provide essential services to the membership.
The investment we make into our fields today will bring enjoyment for our players in years to come. We will continue to create opportunities for all players to get increasing access higher quality fields through new training opportunities, camps and other programs as more fields become available.

Clyde Watson, who guided the McLean Freedom U-16 team to the 2007 USYS national championship, was voted as the Girls National Coach of the Year. This prestigious award was announced on Friday January 18tat the NSCAA convention held in Baltimore.
Clyde is McLean’s MYS-MPS Technical Director and he also is director for the Washington Freedom Player Development Academy. A Washington, D.C. native, Watson has been part of the area’s soccer scene for nearly 25 years. He was previously named the 1998 Virginia Youth Soccer Association Boys Coach of the Year and also was an assistant coach for the Washington Freedom of the WUSA.
“We are proud to have him leading our club as Technical Director” stated Michael Riemer MYS Chairman. “His role is very important to our development as a club” Michael added. “He is very deserving of this award” said Michael. ”He has done this his entire life and I know he will continue to develop our players, coaches and teams in a positive professional manner” said Riemer.
“I am much honored to have been chosen among such an elite group of national coaches” said Watson. “But, it is always the players that play the game and I am grateful to have been associated with such outstanding youth soccer players again this year” he stated.
“I look forward to working just as hard this year with all the coaches and players” added Watson.
