Finding funds will be a critical element. MYS has initially identified the following sources for funds:
- Donations
- Current MYS surplus
- Future MYS surpluses
- New Field Development Initiative Fee for all players
- Field maintenance cost savings
- Fairfax Co. Park Authority bond proceeds
- Developer proffer money
- Return of the Fairfax Co. $5.50 registration fee
- Corporate sponsors
- Local business supporters
- Other MYA sports, adult leagues
- Grants
The number of fields built and the timing of field of construction will be dependent on the ability of MYS to generate contributions to its field development fund.
The MYS Board has established a separate account to hold funds to pay for the field initiative. The account will receive the recently announced Field Initiative Fee paid by all MYS players each season. In addition, this separate account will receive funds from any other field initiative sources, including donations from MYS members identified for use toward the field initiative. MYS will periodically report to its members on the status of this separate account.
