Welcome to the official web site of the McLean MPS Power, a U14 (2008-2009 season) girls soccer team of the McLean Premier Soccer (MPS) club. McLean is a community of about 40,000 people located in Northern Virginia, just outside of Washington, D.C. McLean's travel soccer program is the top ranked club in Virginia, according to GotSoccer's club rankings. Despite being a relatively small club on the national scale, McLean's girls program is ranked #1 in Virginia, #2 in Region 1 (to PDA from New Jersey) and in the Top 20 nationally! The MPS girls program has recently produced 4 National Pool players, 2 Women’s National Team members, 2 All Met (DC Area) Selections, and 1 High School All American. For 2008, Soccer America magazine ranks the McLean girls program as the #7 girls club in the nation after a "sensational 2007", which included, among other highlights, the U-16 MPS Freedom winning a national championship, two MPS girls touring Argentina with the U.S. U-17s and three MPS girls teams winning Virginia state titles in the fall. Following in these footsteps, as of February 2008, Gotsoccer ranks the Power #3 in Virginia.

The Power is coached and trained by Jamil Faryadi, a five-time State Cup Champion youth coach and Coerver foot-skills specialist, Clyde Watson, the club’s Technical Director and the Washington Freedom Assistant Coach and Kris Ward, a Maryland and Region 1 ODP coach. Coaches Faryadi, Watson and Ward are involved in player selection and development for the team. Together, the Coaches design and run the Team’s training sessions. In addition, the Team’s keepers are trained by MPS trainers, who include successful State Cup champion coaches and an experienced keeper trainer who played for his country’s National Team. 

 
The Team trains a minimum of three sessions per week during the Fall and Spring seasons and a minimum of two sessions per week during the Winter and Summer seasons. In the Summer, the Team is part of the Washington Freedom Super-Y club, playing in the Mid-Atlantic Region in a minimum of 14 matches. As part of the Washington Freedom U13 team, Power girls will compete for the US Soccer League National Championship in Tampa, Florida this November. 
 
Over the course of the Fall and Spring, the Team plays either in the Region 1 League or the Washington Area Girls Soccer League (WAGS), as well as high-level tournaments such as the Jefferson Cup, Bethesda Thanksgiving Tournament, Discovery Cup, FC Delco Players Cup, WAGS Tournament, etc. The objective of the Team is to compete for the State Cup title and at the National level in top-tier tournaments, as the MPS teams before it have done. Many of the Team’s players share a personal objective to play soccer beyond the club, after graduation from high school. MPS has a formal program to assist players in such ventures, and the club boasts a stable of highly knowledgeable and experienced coaches who help players who have this desire to secure the right opportunities.
